 The Climate of Benidorm, Spain

Spain Climate

The climate of Benidorm, Spain is one of the reasons why it has become one of the most popular tourist destinations. Since it is surrounded by several mountains, it is shielded from harsh winds from the north. Thus, the area has very mild winters.

During the rest of the year, Benidorm enjoys warm beach weather. The best months of the year are May and October, where the land is bathed under sunlight and a warm and relaxing breeze. There is very minimal rain fall. Temperatures typically reach from 16 to 21 degrees Celsius, sometimes falling to about 9 to 14 degrees Celsius during the Spring months. But even on the coolest of days Benidorm weather is pleasant enough to go outdoors.

The summers in Benidorm are long. August is the hottest month, and temperatures can reach up to a sizzling 40 degrees! Luckily one can always cool off by taking a relaxing swim in the ocean.

Benidorm is usually crowded during the summer months, but the spring weather is very pleasant for those who want to enjoy the sun and the sea without having to contend with very large groups of tourists.

By Autumn, though, rainfall can drive away the beach lovers. There can be storms and floods, and the occasional electrical storm in September. The rains get heavier at night. Temperatures reach about 16 to 25 degrees Celsius, dropping to 11 degrees after sunset. .

During the winter, the temperature stays at about 11 to 14 degrees—still pleasant enough for a round of golf outdoors! This is one reason why the tourists return during the winter, as they escape the harsh Northern winters and enjoy Benidorm’s easy climate. Snow rarely falls, and by that time the rains have stopped. It is a good time to stay on the beach and take a swim, even as other countries are blanketed in snow. Tourism picks up during the winter months.

About

Benidorm is part of Spain's Costa Blanca region, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It is found north east of Alicante (around 45 kilometers' drive) and is south of the Altea. Benidorm's beaches and cosmopolitan atmosphere (it has a skyscraper skyline that looks stunning at night) makes it famous for swimming by day, partying by night. And not even winter can dampen this paradise. Enclosed by mountains that stand up to 1558 metres high, Benidorm is shielded against the sometimes cold north winds. Thus, the weather is never harsh, and continues to be a favorite winter escape. In the summer, Benidorm transforms into one big party place. It has over a thousand restaurants, over thirty discos and bars. This is the night life that attracts thousands of visitors a year. They flock to the hotels, which have a total of over 35,000 beds. Or they rent out the apartments and other alternative vacation accommodations (numbering over 200,000). Some tourists have fallen in love with the place so much they actually bought their own properties there, and it has a flourishing British and Irish community.
